A 4-year-old girl and her mother are killed in a shooting on the Florida Turnpike near Hollywood.

A woman and her 4-year-old daughter were shot to death in a car on the Florida Turnpike Friday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol and the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Beatrice Saintvil and her daughter were found by Florida Highway Patrol troopers inside a car parked in the left emergency lane near mile marker 49, just south of Hollywood Boulevard, according to the report. BSO spokesperson Claudinne Caro. Both had been shot. Hollywood Fire Rescue transported Saintvil to a local hospital where she died. Her daughter was dead in the car.

BSO has not released the 4-year-old's name, Saintvil's age, or any other details about them. Detectives also have not released any information about who may have shot the mother and daughter.

Lt. Indiana Miranda said FHP troopers responded to a report of a shooting on the Turnpike in the northbound lanes shortly before midnight Friday. When they arrived, they found a woman and a girl inside the car. Both had been shot. Caro said the shooting happened around 11:15 p.m. Friday.

FHP requested assistance from the Broward Sheriff's Homicide Unit to investigate the fatal shooting.

The turnpike was closed in both directions early Saturday morning, but has since reopened, Caro said.

The investigation continues.

Any Crime Stoppers information leading to an arrest in this case is eligible for a reward of up to $5,000, according to BSO.
