A 35-year-old man has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting in Shreveport's Eden Gardens neighborhood.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Shreveport's 35th homicide victim of the year has been identified by the Caddo Parish Coroner following his fatal shooting late Friday night.

According to the coroner, Jacoby Willis, 46, of Dallas, was talking to someone inside a home in the 7200 block of Bethany Street when a family member heard several gunshots fired.

The family member discovered Willis suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck and was unresponsive. He was transported to Ochsner LSU Health, where he succumbed to his injuries at 11:59 p.m.

The coroner positively identified Willis through fingerprint comparisons. Shreveport police are investigating the fatal shooting.
