A 15-year-old girl arrested for assault and another teenager hospitalized

The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) has finally identified and arrested a teenage girl following a serious assault in mid-April.

According to the April 17 press release, WPS responded to a call about teenagers beating a 13-year-old girl in a parking lot at Madison Street and Ness Avenue.

A passerby called police and told them that a young girl had been kicked and punched until she lost consciousness while other teenagers recorded the incident on their phones while encouraging the continuation of the fight.

When police arrived, the victim was unconscious and his backpack was stolen. Once the teens heard the sirens, they fled the scene.

The 13-year-old girl was taken to hospital in an unstable condition after suffering serious injuries to her head and face. She was eventually upgraded to stable condition.

After investigation, the Major Crimes Unit discovered that the victim and suspect knew each other. Once the suspect was identified, on May 28, 2024, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 700 block of Machray Avenue. A 15-year-old girl from Winnipeg has been arrested and taken into custody.

She faces charges of robbery and aggravated assault and is in custody.
