9 people sentenced to prison after protesting on I-95

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – The nine pro-Palestinian protesters arrested on I-95 in Richmond were sentenced to prison Tuesday.

On Monday, March 11, State Police received several calls from drivers on I-95 south of people blocking lanes near the Richmond-bound Arthur Ashe Boulevard exit during the morning rush hour.

When they arrived, nine people were lying on the road, chained together using two ladders, a large metal chain and “sleeping dragon” devices.

They were charged with four offenses including stopping another vehicle, obstructing the free passage of others, unlawful assembly and being a pedestrian on the highway.

Eight protesters were sentenced to 5 days in jail, except for Kemp Walker Barber, 25, of Richmond, who was sentenced to one day.

Those sentenced include:

Max Hudson Gray Holland, 24, of Henrico

Charles D. Caines, 23, of Round Hill

Connor Joris McCarty, 21, from Norfolk

Naomi Destiny Isaac, 25, of Richmond

Sarah Elizabeth Milkowski Dahlgren, of Henrico

Kenrick Keith Cameron Jr., 25, of Richmond

Jasmine Juliet Cuellar, 30, of Richmond
