9-month-old child identified by Fresno coroner. The baby was found unconscious next to the bed

The coroner has identified the 9-month-old baby, who died May 24 after being found unresponsive in a Fresno home.

Officers went to the 3000 block of East Washington Avenue at 8:30 a.m. and found the baby on the ground next to a bed.

Emergency medical services provided first aid before the baby was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was identified as Benjamin Yang of Fresno.

Police said there was “initially no evidence of foul play” – but the death is being investigated as a potential case of negligence. The coroner said the cause of death was pending.

The parents were cooperative, police said.
