An elderly man has been forced to hang up his unusual weapon after allegedly terrorizing his neighborhood for a decade with a slingshot.

In a press release announcing the arrest of the man, Prince Raymond King, 81, of Azusa, California, on May 23, the Azusa Police Department called him a “slingshot shooter in series “.

Police said King used ball bearings and a slingshot to damage property and nearly hit people in his neighborhood for about a decade.

“DEU conducted a lengthy investigation and learned that over the course of 9 to 10 years, dozens of citizens were victims of serial slingshots,” the statement said, noting the previously unknown suspect “ broke windows, windshields and almost trapped people.” with ball bearings.

Footage of the vandalized area captured by local news outlet ABC 7 showed windows with varying levels of damage, some with holes the size of BB guns, while others were completely shattered.

During the decade of vandalism, no injuries were reported, said Lt. Jake Bushey of the Azusa Police Department. San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Bushey also told the outlet that law enforcement officials have been investigating the serial shooter since his very first attack — but haven't been able to identify him until now.

“This has been going on for many years,” the police lieutenant said, “because we just haven’t identified who the suspect was.”

After a decade of property damage from a slingshot, the department executed a search warrant in King's neighborhood earlier this month.

During a search of his home, investigators discovered an unknown number of ball bearings and a slingshot.

King was arrested and jailed several hours later, according to records viewed by PEOPLE.

He is currently being held without bail in the Los Angeles Men's Central Jail. It was not immediately clear whether he has legal representation to comment on his behalf.
