8 families displaced after Douglass Hills apartment fire

Anchorage Middletown Fire responded to a fire around noon Friday on Shelbyville Road. The apartment complex, La Fontenay Apartments, is located just east of Hurstbourne Parkway. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from a unit, fire officials said. The fire was quickly brought under control and did not spread to other units. No one was home at the time of the fire and firefighters were able to rescue two dogs from the building, fire officials said. Firefighters said no one was injured, but eight families were displaced as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
