7 people arrested in illegal prostitution operation, Cumberland County sheriff says

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Seven people were arrested Friday in Cumberland County as part of an undercover operation, according to the sheriff's office.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit conducted a sting operation with the assistance of Manna Church on Friday to arrest people seeking sexual services from prostitutes in the Cumberland County area.

Detectives said they targeted the Eastern Boulevard/Gillespie Street area because of the high amount of illegal activity.

  • Nico Treman Wilson, 28, of Winston-Salem, was arrested for solicitation of prostitution. He was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $1,000 secured bond.
  • Stevie Junior Oxendine, 52, of Shannon, was arrested for solicitation of prostitution. He was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $500 secured bond.
  • Corey Stefon Brown, 30, of Lumberton, was arrested for solicitation of prostitution. He was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $500 secured bond.
  • Darryl Leroy McCoy, 39, of Fayetteville, was arrested for solicitation of prostitution. He was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $500 secured bond.
  • Terence Mario Smith, 43, of Fayetteville, was arrested for solicitation of prostitution. He was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $500 secured bond.
  • Steven Lee Ivey, 45, of Saint Pauls, was arrested for solicitation of prostitution. He was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center. He was released on $500 secured bond.
  • Ricky Wayne Bernard, 40, of Fayetteville, was arrested for solicitation of prostitution. He was released with a written promise to appear in court.

The sheriff's office said an initial appearance for the seven defendants was scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Cumberland County Detention Center.
