£7.6m teenager nearing Brighton and Hove Albion move despite Manchester United links

Manchester United are looking at a number of potential signings this summer but one target appears set for Brighton and Hove Albion.

Erik ten Hag's new deal at Manchester United has now been confirmed with Ineos deciding to keep the faith in him.

The next task is to bring in new signings with United looking at a number of ways in which to improve in the transfer market.

Most of the focus will, understandably, be on first-team recruits to bolster Ten Hag's squad for next season.

United will also look at prospects for the future though, hoping to strike gold on some top talents in the coming years.

Borussia Monchengladbach's Winsley Boteli is the latest name to be linked but one young talent looks set to head elsewhere this summer.

Manchester United to miss out on Malick Yalcouye

United need to add more talent around Kobbie Mainoo in midfield.

That could come with an immediate impact player such as Paris Saint-Germain's Manuel Ugarte, but United could also look to add another teenager into the mix.

Reports in May suggested that United were taking an interest in signing IFK Goteborg midfielder Malick Yalcouye.

United are thought to have scouted Yalcouye ahead of potentially launching a move for the Malian talent.

Well, if United wanted to buy Yalcouye this summer, then time is running out.

Charlie Parker-Turner of the Daily Express reports that Brighton and Hove Albion have now agreed a deal to sign Yalcouye.

It is stated that the Seagulls will be paying £7.6million plus add-ons for Yalcouye and personal terms are already in place.

Yalcouye appears to be heading for the South Coast barring a late twist with United set to miss out.

United will hope this is not another Moises Caicedo situation

Yalcouye has only made 14 appearances for Goteborg and only moved to Sweden in February.

Premier League clubs have already spotted his potential though and Brighton appear convinced that he can become a star.

This will however remind United fans of missing out on a deal for Moises Caicedo.

United were looking to land Caicedo from Independiente del Valle in Ecuador back in 2021.

United missed out, saw Caicedo become a sensation with Brighton and then watched on as Caicedo completed a nine-figure move to Chelsea last summer.

That episode wasn't particularly impressive from United and fans are hoping for fewer of these tales with Ineos now on board.

Brighton are though moving to land Yalcouye and will be hoping to develop him into the next Caicedo at the Amex Stadium, potentially leaving United red-faced again.
