65-year-old man arrested in Nez Perce County for alleged trafficking of methamphetamine and heroin | Idaho

LEWISTON – Three people were arrested, including one who now faces drug charges, after a woman was seen on surveillance video smoking an aluminum substance on the premises of the Clearwater River Casino .

According to court documents, around 2:07 a.m. Friday, a Nez Perce County Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to the area of ​​the Clearwater River Casino. A report was received that a woman was seen smoking a piece of aluminum foil, which police say is a common method of consuming fentanyl.

As a deputy arrived in the area, the white 2023 Dodge pickup truck, with California license plates, which had been reported associated with the incident, was spotted heading west. According to documents, the vehicle did not have functioning taillights. A traffic stop was initiated. Another deputy went to the casino to review surveillance footage.

The deputy made contact with the driver, Mark H. Hug, 65, who presented a Washington driver's license. There was a woman in the front passenger seat, identified as Emma Swett, 50, also from Washington. A man sitting in the rear passenger seat was identified as Cody D. Clark, 31, of Spokane.

Shortly thereafter, evidence of the alleged drug use was confirmed via video at the casino.

Court documents say officers searched the van and found a large blue duffel bag, later determined to be Hug's property. Inside the bag were methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, and a Smith and Wesson pistol – loaded with 5 rounds. All items were seized.

A backpack containing more suspected methamphetamine was also found during the search, which was also seized.

The total weight of the seized package of methamphetamine is estimated to be 33.07 grams. The total weight of the heroin package was 27.3 grams. A total of 91 fentanyl tablets were also seized.

All three were arrested and transported to the Nez Perce County Jail.

During his arrest, a wallet containing more than $18,000 was found under Hug's shirt, documents state. Due to the amount of drugs found, Hug was charged with trafficking methamphetamine and heroin. Hug was also charged with possession of fentanyl.

Swett and Clark were also charged with possession of fentanyl.

During court appearances Friday, bail was set at $50,000 for Hug, Swett and Clark who were released without bail.
