The Braintree Police Department said Saturday around 6 p.m. a man entered the AMC Braintree 10 in front of the box office without paying and entered a theater. When he was inside, he allegedly encountered four young girls. He allegedly started stabbing them without any warning.

After finishing his attack, he ran out of the movie theater and fled the area, police said.

The girls were taken to a hospital for treatment, first responders said, according to WFXT. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The girls ranged in age from 9 to 17, according to police.

Police reviewed surveillance video from AMC 10 and were able to trace the suspect's movements. Police said he left the scene in a black SUV. Investigators found additional footage that provided them with the SUV's license plate.

Besides the girls who were stabbed, two others were stabbed an hour later at a McDonald's in Plymouth, police said, according to CNN. The victims were identified only as a 21-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man. Both are also believed to have non-life-threatening injuries.

Massachusetts State Police pursued the SUV after the incident at McDonalds, WFXT reported. It eventually crashed at Sandwich. The driver was arrested, according to police.

Connecticut State Police notified police that the suspect was linked to a death in his state, according to CNN. It has not yet been confirmed whether the Connecticut case is linked to the Massachusetts case.

The inquest into the death in Connecticut was reportedly held Saturday. Connecticut State Police said they were responding to a disturbance call in a statement obtained by CNN. On site, investigators discovered a person who was pronounced dead. Their identity has not yet been confirmed.

The suspect has not yet been identified.
