51-year-old man arrested for alleged defilement of Ogun minor

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 51-year-old man, Zakaria Opeme, accused of raping a minor at Okun Owa, Ijebu-Ode area of ​​the State.

Ogun Police Spokesman, Omolola Odutola, disclosed in a telephone conversation with our correspondent on Sunday that Opeme was arrested and detained after the allegation, and that preliminary investigation was underway to uncover the truth behind the defilement case.

“The matter was reported at the Okun Owa police station but was transferred to the Obalende Divisional Police Headquarters for discreet investigation. Officers from the Obalende Police Division attended the scene of the incident and the suspect was arrested.

“The suspect’s statement was obtained under caution and he was arrested. The victim was rushed to Ijebu-Ode General Hospital for medical treatment. The case will be transferred to the Eleweeran State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation,” Odutola said.

Metro PUNCH It was reported that a member of the National Youth Service Corps, Solomon Daniel, was last week arrested by operatives of the Ogun Police Command for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl at Ajowa, in Ifo Local Government Area.

Daniel was accused of having carnal knowledge of a minor in an unfinished building after assaulting her.
