5 people arrested after man shot, stabbed and beaten in Bartow County

The victim was seriously injured but is expected to survive, the sheriff's office said.

ACWORTH, Ga. — Five people are behind bars after a man was allegedly shot, stabbed, beaten and held against his will in Bartow County over the weekend, according to the sheriff's office.

On May 26, deputies went to the emergency room at Piedmont Hospital in Cartersville after receiving a report of a man suffering from gunshot and stab wounds. Upon arrival, a 32-year-old victim told officers she had been assaulted in the 6600 block of Wagonwheel Drive in Acworth and identified her alleged attackers.

He also told authorities that the suspects allowed him to leave after the attack and that he went to see a doctor. Deputies said although the victim was seriously injured, he is expected to survive.

Following an investigation, law enforcement attended the Wagonwheel Drive address and arrested five people in connection with the incident.

The following suspects were arrested and booked into the Bartow County Jail:

  • J.aleyne Elymar Vivas-Blanco20 years old, from Acworth – charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, kidnapping, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and tampering with evidence.
  • Jerry Scott Taylor, 42 years old, from Acworth – charged with criminal attempt to murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, kidnapping, forcible confinement, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Austin Reed Sedlaczek24 years old, from Acworth – Charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, kidnapping, forcible confinement, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, tampering with evidence and obstruction
  • Michael Charles Wade33, from Acworth – charged with tampering with evidence
  • Stephanie Lynn Holbrook52 years old, from Cartersville – Charged with tampering with evidence

Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap said everyone involved knew each other and no further arrests were expected.

The incident remains under investigation.
