48 hours planned in Oneida County next week for hike for missing children | Local

UTICA, NY — Last year marked the 30th anniversary of Sara Anne Wood's disappearance.

This fact caught the attention of the CBS true crime show, 48 Hours, who reportedly contacted Sara's brother, Dusty Wood, to discuss writing a story about her disappearance.

“During the conversation, Dusty said we really need to go to Utica to see the Ride for Missing Children and see what the impact and legacy is,” said Jim White, executive committee member of the Wrinkled.

White has been coordinating with show producers since March.

“So they're coming next week on ride day. They'll follow us the whole ride,” White said. “They were very impressed that family members of missing children were coming to meet us on the day of the trip, and they thought they could be a way to return some of these children to their parents.”

And while that's what's most important, there is also a less tangible, but very significant, benefit to addressing the plight of these families on a national scale.

“The fact that we have not forgotten their child and that we are continuing to search is very meaningful to them. Their biggest fear is that their child will be forgotten. And I can understand that. We will not forget,” said White.

We'll keep an eye on when the 48 Hours episode airs and let you know when it airs.
