The injured man rushed off the train and begged a station official to call 911, police said.

His attacker, for his part, remained on the train after the violence in broad daylight.

Paramedics transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was listed in stable condition, according to the NYPD.

Police said it was unclear what led to the bloodshed, and the suspect was in the wind Wednesday evening.
