40 students near Baton Rouge chosen for summer internship at ExxonMobil

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Baton Rouge area high school students have been selected to participate in ExxonMobil's high school internship program for the summer.

In a release from ExxonMobil, 40 emerging juniors and seniors from 23 Capital Region schools were selected for a summer internship program. The program aims to educate students about career opportunities available in the energy and manufacturing sectors.


Students will learn practical skills from full-time ExxonMobil employees, develop their careers and engage in community service while being paid $18 per hour.

ExxonMobil's summer internship has become more competitive, attracting many applicants, including out-of-state applicants.

I’m excited to open these courses to local high school students and their families,” said Regina Davis, Refinery Manager at the ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Complex. “We look forward to seeing the success of these students and are proud to provide workforce development and career opportunities in the Baton Rouge area.”

Interns will have the chance to explore jobs in engineering, information technology (IT), laboratory sciences, project management, mechanical operations and pipeline management, according to ExxonMobil.

“This summer internship program serves as a gateway for students to explore multiple career opportunities within ExxonMobil. By working closely with industry leaders and immersing themselves in real-world scenarios, interns gain invaluable exposure to our safety protocols, work culture, and mission. and our values,” said Baraynia Robillard, head of workforce development at ExxonMobil. “It is extremely rewarding to equip these young women and men with the tools they need to thrive after graduation and introduce them to well-paying career opportunities right here in our community.”

The paid program begins Monday June 10 through Wednesday July 31.
