4-year-old boy missing from Hopkins

Police said Waeys Ali Mohamed is easily frightened by noise and attracted to areas where there is water.

HOPKINS, Minn. — Authorities are continuing their search Sunday evening after a missing child was reported in Hopkins, prompting several emergency alerts to be issued.

Hopkins police said Waeys Ali Mohamed, the missing 4-year-old, is three and a half feet tall and weighs 40 pounds. He has short, curly black hair and may be naked and not wearing shoes.

The boy was last seen around 7:30 a.m. near the Chorus Apartments, 1295 2nd Street Northeast in Hopkins.

Police said the boy was easily frightened by noise and attracted to areas of water.

“It will be more difficult when the sun goes down, which is why we are exhausting our efforts right now,” Hopkins Police Capt. Craig Kreiling said.

Anyone who sees the boy or has information is asked to call 911 immediately.

“We will be here as long as it takes to bring Waeys home,” Kreiling said.
