4 people arrested and 1 wanted in connection with car thefts in Plaquemine

IBERVILLE PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — The Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office has made several arrests in connection with several car burglaries in and around the Plaquemine area.

“These suspects burglarized more than 20 vehicles. Firearms and wallets are among the items confiscated,” IPSO said in a Facebook post.


IPSO charged Mairickey Stewart, 19, with 13 counts of aggravated burglary, four counts of simple burglary, unlawful possession of a stolen firearm and resisting flight.

Shyquan Harris, 19, and a 16-year-old juvenile were charged with 13 counts of aggravated burglary. Another 16-year-old suspect was charged with 13 counts of aggravated burglary, unlawful possession of a stolen firearm and resisting flight.

Warnell Babineaux, 24, remains at large. Once apprehended, Babineaux will be charged with 13 counts of aggravated burglary, according to the sheriff's office.

The Plaquemine Police Department will also file charges against the suspects, according to IPSO. Deputies encourage residents to keep their vehicles locked and remove any valuables they have in their cars.
