4 people arrested after Baton Rouge drug deal, dog fighting ring

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Police Department arrested four suspects after a drug bust in Baton Rouge.

Over the past month, detectives have been investigating a drug trafficking operation in the Baton Rouge area. During the investigation, detectives learned that fentanyl and other drugs were being sold at a home, in addition to a dog fighting ring, according to BRPD.


As detectives executed the warrant, they saw several dogs in kennels and chained that appeared to have injuries suggestive of dog fighting, according to police.

Police said “detectives were also able to see evidence of dog fighting at a nearby abandoned residence as well as chained dogs inside the abandoned structure.” Animal control was contacted and responded to the scene.

Animal control removed nine dogs from the scene and several “pieces of evidence and discovered blood on the walls of the abandoned structure inside makeshift dog enclosures,” according to BRPD.

On Wednesday, June 5, detectives executed a search warrant and the following items were seized:

  • Marijuana: 3 pounds in vacuum bags.
  • 7 dosage units of Alprazolam.
  • 59 dosage units of Adderall.
  • Approximately 583 dosage units of fentanyl tablets.
  • 1.5 grams of fentanyl powder.
  • $4,001.
  • Stolen Glock 23, 40 cal.
  • Empty capsules for making fentanyl pills.

Stanley Yates was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I drug (marijuana), possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II drug (amphetamine), possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II drug (fentanyl) and possession with intent to distribute a Schedule IV drug (Alprazolam), possession of a firearm with CDS, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and dog fighting.

Ke'Vontae De'vontae Yates was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I drug (marijuana), possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II drug (amphetamine) and possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II drug (fentanyl). and possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II drug (Alprazolam).

Tavarus Devond Yates was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute a schedule I drug (marijuana).

Vianna Mays was arrested and had an active arrest warrant for aggravated assault on a dating partner.
