33 people accused of trafficking weapons and drugs from a food truck in New York | RJR News

Thirty-three people have been charged with participating in an arms and drug trafficking ring, based out of a truck selling Jamaican food, which was parked for years just outside the Palace of Justice. justice of the city of Newburgh, New York.

Law enforcement officials announced the charges Wednesday, eight days after hundreds of officers conducted a sweep in several areas of Newburgh, drawing widespread attention.

Orange County authorities declined to share details of the operation last week.

But at a press conference on Wednesday, they announced that 30 people had been arrested that day – three participants remained at large.

Authorities seized 11 kilograms of cocaine, 90 grams of fentanyl, seven firearms, approximately $45,000 in cash and 11 vehicles, including the food truck.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office, the Orange County Prosecutor's Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the operation on May 21, following 'a six-month investigation involving wiretaps, undercover agents and search warrants.

Police had already seized 24 firearms and another kilo of cocaine during the investigation, which they dubbed Operation Hot Lunch.
