31-year-old man arrested for allegedly stabbing 51-year-old man on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Police allege a 31-year-old St. George man used a large, handleless blade to stab a 51-year-old Clifton man Tuesday.

Jonathan Bronley of Richmond Terrace was arrested for the stabbing that occurred around 5 p.m. near Palma Drive and Park Hill Avenue, according to the criminal complaint and police.

The criminal complaint alleges the defendant used a “handled blade” more than four inches long to stab the victim in the abdomen.

Officers responding to a 911 call found the 51-year-old man suffering from stab wounds and emergency services transported the victim in stable condition to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze, according to police .

The victim required emergency medical treatment that included five stitches to close a puncture wound, in addition to suffering significant bleeding and pain, according to the criminal complaint and police.

Bronley is also accused of kicking and damaging the headlight of a black 2023 Toyota Rav 4 during the episode.

The accused was charged with assault, threatening, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, harassment and carrying or possessing a knife with a blade four inches or longer, according to the complaint criminal.

Bronley, whose first name is also listed as John in public records, has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Bail was set at $10,000/$5,000 cash for the defendant who is due back in criminal court June 3, public records show.

The defendant's lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
