3-year-old dies after being stabbed by giant Ohio eagle

A 3-year-old boy stabbed by a woman in a grocery store parking lot has died in what they believe was a random attack.

NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio — A 3-year-old boy stabbed by a woman in an Ohio grocery store parking lot has died in what investigators believe was a random attack, police said.

Officers were called to the Giant Eagle store in North Olmsted after several 911 calls regarding a possible stabbing in the parking lot.

The boy and his mother were returning to their vehicle after shopping at the Giant Eagle grocery store Monday when a woman rushed toward them with a knife, stabbing them both, police said. The boy later died in hospital.

A 32-year-old woman – identified as Bionca Ellis – was arrested at the scene in North Olmsted, a Cleveland suburb, police said.

The county medical examiner identified the boy as 3-year-old Julian Wood. Police have not released his mother's identity or condition.

“I am deeply saddened by an incident that occurred this afternoon in the parking lot of the North Olmsted Giant Eagle supermarket. A woman, currently in the custody of North Olmsted police, stabbed a customer and her two-year-old son. (3 years)

“The mother and child were immediately transported to St. John Medical Center where they are currently undergoing treatment.

“Our hearts go out to both victims of what appears to be a random act of violence.

“Once again, our North Olmsted security forces responded quickly and handled the situation with great professionalism. »
