3 sheriff's deputies injured in 'critical incident' after shooting with suspect in Illinois

Three Illinois deputies were shot by a suspect in northern Illinois Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Cops initially declared the situation a “critical incident” but did not release details about what happened.

Multiple people were injured in a shooting in a northern Illinois community during what authorities called a “critical incident” Wednesday.
At least three people were rushed to Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital, according to a spokesperson.

Law enforcement first reached a home near Dixon after a family member called about a relative threatening suicide and homicide, the County Sheriff's Office said. Ogle during a press conference.

After authorities failed to make contact with the man inside the home, officers entered and were immediately greeted by gunfire, Sheriff Brian VanVickle said.

Three police officers were shot and rushed to local hospitals, and the suspect was also shot during the incident, authorities said.

All those involved were in “good condition,” authorities said, but no additional information was provided.

Emergency and police vehicles and a pair of medical helicopters converged on the community of Lost Lake during the situation that the Ogle County Sheriff's Office called a “critical incident.”

The sheriff said his office has asked Illinois State Police to investigate the officer-involved shooting.
