3 people identified after wrong-way accident on I-25 | Local News

The El Paso County Coroner's Office has confirmed the identification of three people who were killed last weekend along Interstate 25, according to the Gazette's news partner KOAA.

The two drivers involved in a head-on collision have been identified as 37-year-old Dalisse Rivera-Albino and 46-year-old Heidi Jackson. The third victim in the incident was identified as Joel Montalvo, 64, of Fort Collins, who had gotten out of his vehicle to help those injured in the crash.

The El Paso County Coroner's Office has identified the “good Samaritan” who was struck and killed while trying to help two drivers in the area.

Previous Gazette reports indicated that a vehicle was heading south in the northbound lanes of the highway near the Martin Luther King Jr. Bypass when it collided with another car. Following the accident, Montalvo was struck by another vehicle as he exited his vehicle.

One of the drivers and Montalvo were pronounced dead at the scene. The wrong-way driver was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries.

At this time, it is unclear whether Jackson or Rivera-Albino was the wrong-way driver. It remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the fatal crash.
