MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities in Mt. Juliet said they arrested three people Friday evening after a traffic stop led to a brief chase.

According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department (MJPD), the incident occurred after officers spotted a vehicle “driving in excess of 90 mph and driving recklessly” on Lebanon Road near N. Greenhill Road, just after 11 p.m. on Friday, June 7.

Authorities reported officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle he fled, prompting the deployment of spike strips near Park Glen Drive.

The spikes deflated the vehicle's tires and it came to a stop near Benders Ferry Road. Authorities said three suspects escaped from the vehicle and ran into a wooded area.

According to MJPD, two passengers were quickly taken into custody. Meanwhile, the driver was found hiding in thick brush.

The suspects – identified by police as a 21-year-old from Westmoreland, a 19-year-old from Hermitage and an 18-year-old from Old Hickory – were all arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail.

Authorities said all three suspects are believed to be under the influence. It is still unclear what the charges against them are at this time.

No further information was immediately released.
