3 people arrested after chase leads to crash on I-69 in Delaware County

DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. – A police chase on I-69 led to a crash and the arrest of three people on various charges.

According to Indiana State Police, the incident began when a state trooper noticed a Ford Ranger speeding on I-69 near mile marker 237 around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.


The trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the pickup truck took off, leading to a brief chase that ended after about six kilometers, when the truck left the road and crashed near state Route 332 .

Four people in the truck got out and fled; Indiana State Police used a helicopter to search for them. With the assistance of the Daleville Police Department K9, all four individuals were located and taken into custody.

Three men were arrested on various charges, while a minor found with them was later released into the custody of a relative.

During a search of the vehicle, police found marijuana, a pair of Glock handguns and pills believed to contain fentanyl.

The driver of the pickup truck, Darrion Rae Shaun Hill, 19, of Muncie, faces preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, possession of marijuana, resisting law enforcement and driving under suspension with a prerequisite.

One of the passengers, Adrian Jarell Wright, 24, faces preliminary charges of possession of marijuana and resisting law enforcement.

Police said Wright also has six active arrest warrants in Delaware County for offenses ranging from possession of methamphetamine to possession of cocaine, battery and criminal recklessness with a firearm. fire, among other things.

A third man, Marquese Bell, 28, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and resisting law enforcement.

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office, Daleville Police Department, Eaton Police Department and Gaston Police Department assisted state police in the investigation.
