The home, located at 402 Wild Rice Lane, was surrounded by police, including the area's emergency response team.

At approximately 11:51 a.m., after making more than 50 unanswered calls about the subject, law enforcement entered the home.

Whalen said as they entered the house, three police officers were shot, along with the suspect.

The deputies were transported to KSB Hospital in Dixon, where two of them were treated and released, while the third deputy remains under treatment.

The suspect's condition has not been released.

Illinois State Police investigators will take over the investigation.

Following the shooting, Congressman Bradley J. Fritts, who represents Dixon, released the following statement:

“I am deeply troubled by the heinous acts of violence that took place today against three law enforcement officers in our community,” said Rep. Fritts. “I condemn this senseless attack on police officers who were responding to a call with the intention of ensuring the safety of others, including the suspect. I would like to thank the first responders, who came from several ministries, for their rapid response. Without a doubt, dozens of law enforcement officers, firefighters and paramedics found themselves in a dangerous situation to save the lives of others. There are no words to properly express how proud and grateful I am for their courage today. My thoughts and prayers are with the three officers who were shot, as well as the entire Ogle County Sheriff's Department, as they work to recover from this horrific event.

Senator Win Stoller released this statement following the officer-involved shooting:

“As we work to gather more information about the incident near Lost Lake this afternoon, my thoughts and prayers are with the officers, their families, the Ogle County Sheriff's Department and all first responders on scene. Their courage and dedication to helping keep our communities safe is deeply appreciated, especially during these difficult times.
