3 dead, including a child, at Chase Bank – NBC 6 South Florida

Three people, including a child, died Friday morning after what appears to be a murder-suicide shooting outside a southwest Miami-Dade bank, authorities said.

The shooting happened in the drive-thru of a Chase Bank in the area of Bird Road and 152nd Avenue.

Miami-Dade Police Detective. Luis Sierra said a duty sergeant was driving in the area when he heard gunshots. He responded to the source of the gunshots and found the three bodies.

Sierra said it appears a woman in a minivan with a child inside stopped at the bank's ATM and was waiting in line when a man in an SUV pulled up alongside from her and opened fire, killing the woman and child.

The man then killed himself, Sierra said.

“It appears he opened fire on the minivan and then himself,” Sierra said.

The body of the child, whose age is unknown, was found in the car seat, police said.

Footage from the scene showed a silver BMW SUV parked outside the bank, on the opposite side of an ATM from the black minivan. The area was cordoned off with yellow crime scene tape.

The names of the deceased were unknown. Sierra said homicide detectives are working to determine the relationship between the three people.

“We don't know any family connections yet, a homicide is on scene, they're investigating,” Sierra said.

Miami-Dade County police investigated two other suspected murder-suicide shootings over the past week.

A shooting in Coral Gables on Thursday left a man and a woman dead and the woman's son was hospitalized. On Sunday, June 2, a man shot and killed his elderly parents and their partner before turning the gun on himself at a home in southwest Miami-Dade.

This is a developing story, check back with NBC6 for updates.
