A Marion man faces an attempted murder charge — and possibly other charges — after Linn County authorities found three adults dead and another adult seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in an outbuilding north of Robins.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office was called shortly before 4 p.m. to an outbuilding behind a home at 3699 East Otter Rd. There, emergency responders found four people seriously injured. Three died at the scene and one was airlifted to a hospital with injuries described as life-threatening.

“We do not believe the public is in danger,” Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner said Wednesday evening. “Investigators remain on scene and examine the scene. …We'll probably be there most of the night.

The sheriff's office said Wednesday evening that Luke Truesdell, 34, was arrested for attempted murder in connection with the case and that other charges were pending.

The identities of the deceased will not be released until their family members have been informed. All three bodies will be transported to the state medical examiner's office in Ankeny for autopsies, Gardner said.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the Iowa State Patrol, Robins Police Department, Hiawatha Fire and Ambulance, Center Point Ambulance and the Alburnett Fire Department .
