2nd body found at Brockton treatment. Family says a man is missing

BROCKTON — For the second time in two weeks, a body has been found at the Brockton Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The family of Robert McCarthy, a man missing since May 23, said authorities told them Thursday that the body found Thursday was his. Authorities have not confirmed this identification.

Marnie McCarthy, a cousin of Robert McCarthy, said authorities told the family they did not suspect foul play in her cousin's death.

“He was funny, energetic,” she said, “someone who would take his shirt off your back.”

Marnie McCarthy said her cousin was living homeless in Brockton. He leaves behind four children, she said. In a Facebook post, she said he checked in with his family every day and was last seen on Thursday, May 23.
