28-year-old man arrested after road rage incident led to suspected shooting, Danville police report

The Danville Police Department said a 28-year-old man was arrested after a vehicle was reportedly fired upon during an incident believed to be road rage on Tuesday, July 2.

DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – The Danville Police Department said a 28-year-old man was arrested after a vehicle was reportedly fired upon during an incident believed to be road rage on Tuesday, July 2.

According to the police department, officers responded around 4 p.m. to reports of shots fired in the area of ​​the 700 block of Halifax Road. Shortly after, a victim reported his vehicle had been shot at during what police are considering a road rage incident.


Based on information gathered at the scene, the suspect vehicle and driver identified as Marlowe Malik Cobbs, 28, of Milton, North Carolina, were located by the Caswell County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina. He was extradited to Virginia and charged with:

  • Shooting from a vehicle
  • Attempted aggravated voluntary injury
  • Use of a firearm in the commission of a crime
  • Child endangerment
  • Shots fired at occupied vehicle

Cobbs is currently being held in the Danville City Jail without bail.
