$250,000 cash bail set for suspect in Madison Target parking lot stabbing

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – $250,000 cash bail was set Friday for a man accused of stabbing a rideshare driver in the parking lot of a Madison Target store.

Court records show Antonio Rodgers, 22, made his first appearance Friday. He faces charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and carjacking while in possession of a weapon.

On May 6 at approximately 8:40 p.m., officers with the Madison Police Department were dispatched to respond to a call of a man in medical distress in the Target parking lot in the 4300 block of Lien Road. That's where police said they found the 52-year-old victim with multiple stab wounds to his torso.

MPD reported that community members were caring for the man when first responders arrived. He was taken to hospital. Police say he has since undergone surgery and is considered stable.

The MPD report said the suspect left the store in the victim's vehicle and detectives tracked the man's vehicle using GPS. After notifying law enforcement agencies across the state of the stabbed and stolen vehicle, Racine County deputies viewed the vehicle.

Racine County deputies pursued the vehicle and arrested the driver.

Authorities booked the 22-year-old suspect into the Racine County Jail, where he faces charges of fraudulent and reckless driving in Racine County.
