$25,000 reward available for information leading to arrest in KC's latest fatal shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A $25,000 reward has been made available for information leading to the arrest of a suspect in the latest fatal shooting in Kansas City.

The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department says that at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 24, officers in the area of ​​31st and Van Brunt Boulevard. heard several gunshots towards the north.

Officers said witnesses in the area directed them to a van at a nearby car wash. Inside, they found an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound and began life-saving measures when emergency services arrived and took over.

However, first responders said they were unable to save the victim. A preliminary investigation revealed the shooting occurred at an intersection just off the eastbound I-70 exit ramp toward Van Brunt.

Police said the victim was able to travel the short distance before the truck entered the car wash.

As of 8:30 p.m., KCPD said it had no information on the suspect but was continuing to investigate.

“Detectives are hoping to have some witness testimony or maybe some business surveillance footage or something like that,” said Cpt. Jacob Becchina. “That’s what they do at the beginning of an investigation like this to give them an idea of ​​where to go.”
