212 sensitive villages identified in Srikakulam district

Srikakulam: The district police, with the assistance of CISF and APSP forces, are taking all measures to protect law and order and public tranquility following the counting of votes on June 4.

The police identified 212 villages in 30 mandals of Srikakulam district as sensitive and organized awareness camps and explained the Election Commission rules and legal consequences to the 879 troublemakers in these villages.

The police seized 257 vehicles without records and also initiated proceedings against those possessing them. A total of 4,877 people have been confined under sections 107 and 110 of the CrPC to maintain peace and tranquility.

A red zone was declared within a 2 km radius of the counting center and a ban was imposed on victory rallies, processions, etc. after the announcement of the results. A strict ban was also imposed on the sale, storage and use of crackers following the counting and after the declaration of election results and notices were served to the managements of all petrol bunkers not to sell of bulk gasoline until new orders are issued.

Traffic restrictions have been imposed around the counting center as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident.

Following the counting and detection issues, 536 CC cameras were installed at all important junctions in the district as part of measures to control the law and order situation.

SP GR Radhika conducted a series of examinations with police officers and inspected several areas of the district.
