2025 NFL Mock Draft: Browns add another Buckeye, this time a weapon

Yes, it's way too early for a 2025 NFL Mock Draft. Yes, it's an interesting time to be covering a 2025 NFL National Draft, but we're doing it.

The Cleveland Browns hope to compete in the NFL's toughest division, with a rival enjoying a huge advantage thanks to NFL schedulers. The furthest thing from their minds, outside of a few in the front office, is next year's draft.

While this is also true for fans, it's at least something of interest, especially given that the team was finally selected in the first round after three years without that pick due to the Deshaun Watson agreement.

In three of the last four NFL drafts, general manager Andrew Berry has selected players from the Ohio State Buckeyes. For many fans, this decision reversed years of the Cleveland team, seemingly avoiding players from the great Columbus team.

D.T. Tommy Togiai It didn't work very well but OT Dawand Jones was really good as a beginner (with UDFA security Ronnie Harrison). D.T. Michael Hall Jr. may not get many snaps this season, but has strong potential as an interior passer.

If Pro Football Network's 2025 Draft comes to fruition, another Buckeye will be heading down I-71 to join the Browns:

16) Cleveland Browns: Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State

The Browns have traded for Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore in the last 16 months, but they could add even more security at the WR position, especially after investing so much money and capital in Deshaun Watson. Emeka Egbuka makes a lot of sense here.

An in-state product, Egbuka has a coveted blend of functional utility, versatility and athleticism at 6’1″ and 205 pounds. He's a dynamic Z-move WR with RAC chops and high-level catching instincts who can also use his route-running ability to break through zones.

First, it's interesting to note that PFN selects Cleveland with the 16th pick, meaning the Browns are expected to miss the playoffs. Second, adding another receiver seems like a lot, but Amari Cooper And Elie Moore are ready to become free agents.

Egbuka was overshadowed by a large group of Ohio State receivers, including Marvin Harrison, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Chris Olave And Garrett Wilson. Last season was a rough year as quarterback play struggled in Columbus, but Egbuka has totaled over 1,100 yards on just 74 catches in 2022, catching passes of CJ Stroud.

How about adding Egbuka in Cleveland's first round pick in 2025?
