2 women arrested for allegedly stealing mail from Surprise

SURPRISE, AZ (AZFamille) — Days after an Arizona's Family article about mail thefts in a Surprise neighborhood, police arrested two women in connection with the crimes.

Teresa Renee Settle and Michelle Lidster were taken into custody Wednesday.

According to court documents, the duo stole mail in and around the Kingswood Park neighborhood between October and Tuesday.

Some of the thefts were caught on surveillance video and police said the SUV involved was a 2014 Ford Explorer owned by Lidster.

Officers searched their Wittmann home and found hundreds of items of mail inside, including credit cards, passports, ID cards, checks and other identifying information, according to court records.

Investigators said they used the mail to obtain fake IDs and found a printer in their kitchen living room.

Settle and Lidster used information from the stolen mail to forge checks and apply for credit cards.

Police said they found a .22-caliber rifle, which they were not allowed to have because they are convicted felons, in their shared bedroom.

Both women were incarcerated on multiple counts of forgery, dealing in stolen goods, theft and more.
