2 teens now charged as adults in shooting of 16-year-old at Homestead OfferUp meeting – NBC 6 South Florida

Two juveniles who were among four teenage suspects arrested in connection with the shooting of a 16-year-old in Homestead during an online sale earlier this month are now charged as adults.

Tulio Gonzalez, 16, and Jairo Yovani Garcia, 17, are both charged with attempted murder in the May 7 incident, records show.

Two other suspects, Jairo Bonilla and Aureliano Gomez, 18, also face charges of attempted murder as well as armed robbery and aggravated assault over the incident.

According to arrest reports, a friend of the 16-year-old victim listed a mini-bike for sale on OfferUp and agreed to sell it to Gomez in exchange for another motorized bike and $200.

They arranged to meet in the 900 block of Northwest 1st Avenue, but when the victim and other friends with him met Gomez, a sedan drove up and four men dressed in black got out and started driving. hitting the vehicle the victim was in, the report states. said.

One suspect used his elbow to break a window, and the victims attempted to flee but reversed into the suspects' vehicle, according to the report.

That's when one of the suspects opened fire, hitting the 16-year-old victim three times, twice in the leg and once in the abdomen, according to the report.

The teenage victim was airlifted to South Jackson in stable condition.

Police tracked down Gomez, who said his mini-motorcycle was stolen and he found it on OfferUp, according to reports.

Gomez said he contacted the seller and brought his friends for “backup,” according to reports.

Gonzalez and Garcia were scheduled to make their first appearances in adult court Thursday.
