2 shootings in Danville KY leave 1 dead and 1 injured

DANVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — Two shootings overnight in Danville left one victim injured and one dead.

Danville police said officers were dispatched around 2:51 a.m. to a private club called Den, in the 700 block of Dillehay Street, in response to a 911 hang-up call.


According to authorities, when officers arrived on scene, “no victims could be located”, they had determined that shots had been fired and that a weapon had been found.

Around 3:17 a.m., police were dispatched to a home on Mason Avenue in response to a 37-year-old man who had reportedly been shot in the stomach. First responders transported the man to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, where authorities said he was treated and released.

According to the Danville Police Department, law enforcement determined that “the victim was shot once while in his car” in the Den parking lot. Police said the victim's name is being withheld because the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Around 3:47 a.m., Danville police said officers were dispatched to the 300 block of North 5th Street in response to a “call of shots fired.”

Authorities found a 43-year-old man inside a pickup truck that had “crashed into the backyard of a residence.”

Police said the man found in the driver's seat of the crashed truck suffered from multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities said emergency personnel arrived on scene to assist the victim and transport him to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 5:30 a.m.

According to a press release from the Danville Police Department, a preliminary investigation into this second shooting revealed that the victim was driving on North 5th Street when he “encountered a volley of gunfire” from suspected shooters standing on the side west of the street. The victim tried to run away from the gunfire and crashed, according to Danville police.

Authorities said the victim's name is being withheld “pending notification to family.”

Authorities also said the investigating detective can be reached at (859) 238-1224, ext. 2652. The Danville Police Department said reports can be made anonymously.
