2 people arrested in connection with shooting at apartment complex in Madison, Tennessee

MADISON, Tenn. (WKRN) – Weeks after a man was shot in the chest in Madison, authorities say two suspects have been arrested for their connection to the incident.

According to court documents, officers were called to the 300 block of Rio Vista Drive shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28 to respond to reports of a man who had been shot in the chest.

When officers arrived at the apartment complex, they said they assisted the victim until he was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Witnesses reportedly told police that the incident resulted from an argument between the victim and her daughter's boyfriend. A friend was also present with the boyfriend, police said.

During the argument, officials said the friend's mother pulled out a handgun and shot the victim.

The group then fled in a vehicle in an unknown direction. Authorities said the victim later identified the suspects.

According to an arrest report, Michelle Thornton, 43, was identified as the “suspect who possessed a firearm, brandished it at the victim and fled the scene after the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the chest “.

Court records indicate Deandrea Thornton, 18, was also identified as a suspect by the victim.

Michelle and Deandrea Thornton were booked into the Metropolitan Jail on Tuesday, June 11 and both face charges of attempted criminal homicide and possession of a firearm.

The two men each remain jailed on $510,000 bail.
