2 people arrested in connection with fatal shooting at Haltom City grocery store, police say

A man and woman were arrested Sunday in Kansas in connection with a fatal shooting near a Haltom City grocery store last week, police said.

Around 8 p.m. Thursday, officers were called to the 3100 block of Denton Highway, where someone reported a shooting in the parking lot of an Aldi, according to police. Responding officers found a man who had been shot several times.

Eric Martiz Hill, Jr., 30, died at the scene, police said.

Deja Shanta Burt Roberts, 24, and Eli Gaibeth Martinez Sanchez, 23, were arrested around noon in Kansas, Haltom City police said in a news release Sunday.

They each face a murder charge and their bail was set at $100,000, the department said.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including local police departments in Topeka, Haysville and Wellington, Kansas, assisted in this case, police said. The US Marshal Service, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol were also involved, police added.

The shooting remains under investigation, authorities said.
