2 people arrested after robbery at vacant Kings County home | YourCentralValley.com

KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Two men were arrested after allegedly breaking into a vacant Kings County home and committing a theft, the Kings County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies say they were dispatched to the area of 23rd Avenue and Grangeville Avenue regarding a vehicle trespassing on the property of a vacant residence.

Sheriff's officials said when deputies responded, the caller updated the dispatch that the vehicle, believed to be an older model Cadillac sedan, was now heading northbound on 23rd Avenue before turn east onto Fairfax Avenue.

When they arrived, deputies say they spotted the Cadillac near 22nd Avenue and Fremont Avenue. They conducted a traffic stop and contacted the three occupants of the vehicle. The driver was identified as Pablo Chavez and the front passenger as Irvin Rodriguez. It was later determined that a woman in the back seat was not involved and was released.

As deputies spoke to the trio, they said they noticed several items that appeared to have been removed from a storage location given the large amount of dust and cobwebs deposited on them. Pablo and Irvin were also covered in dust and cobwebs.

The deputies continued to speak with the group while another deputy responded to the house in question. The officer discovered a shed at the rear of the property, which authorities said had been forcibly broken into and items were missing from the dusty floors and counters – items that matched those found inside the Cadillac.

Sheriff's officials said they also discovered a metal pry bar and a box of live shotgun shells in the vehicle. The lever had paint transfer and imprints that matched those left on the hangar forced door.

The sheriff's office says Pablo and Irvin were booked into the Kings County Jail on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy, possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property and possession of ammunition, as both are convicted criminals.

The property was returned to its owner.
