HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Two men were arrested after allegedly assaulting and stealing items worth approximately $200 from someone in Hanford, the Hanford Police Department said.

On June 2, around 4:20 p.m., officers say an individual was assaulted and robbed in the 500 block of Cameron Street. The victim was approached by two men while walking westbound. A suspect, identified as Isaiah Salas, displayed a black handgun with an extended magazine and challenged the victim to a fight.

Police say as the victim tried to run away, Salas and the second suspect, later identified as Christian Martinez, chased him. Salas hit the victim in the head with the gun, causing him to fall, while Martinez physically attacked him.

According to investigators, while the victim was being attacked on the ground, items worth $200 were confiscated from him. Martinez and Salas fled the scene in a gray four-door sedan with tinted windows and silver rims.

Detectives say the suspects were identified during the investigation and both were taken into custody without further incident.
