2 miners pulled from water near Bender Park, 1 remains missing

OAK CREEK, Wisconsin. — Two juveniles were pulled from the water during a water rescue near Bender Park Wednesday evening.

One of the minors is in critical condition, while searches are underway to find a third minor still missing.

The Milwaukee County 911 Dispatch Center was notified around 8:25 p.m. of a possible drowning incident in Lake Michigan, off the coast of Bender Park.

Milwaukee County Sheriff's personnel responded, along with the U.S. Coast Guard and first responders from the Town of Oak Creek.

They say three minors were “in distress in the water.”

Two of the miners were pulled from the water. One of them was hospitalized in critical condition.

Dozens of first responders are participating in the search.

Searches are underway to find the third minor still missing.

Details about how the victims entered the water and their presence in the park are still being worked out, according to MCSO.
