2 men arrested in connection with multiple burglaries at self-storage facilities

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WOLO) – Two men have been arrested in connection with several burglaries that took place at two self-storage locations, RCSD says.

Marshall Poston and McGregor Wallace are accused of burglarizing Midgard Self Storage on Legrand Road and Midgard Self Storage on Atlas Road.

Authorities say Midgard Self Storage management alerted them to the burglaries and that between mid-May and mid-June, approximately 70 to 90 storage units were broken into.

Poston was arrested June 14 and charged with multiple counts of burglary, grand larceny and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Several firearms were recovered from Poston's home, two of which were discovered to be stolen, according to investigators.

Wallace was arrested June 18 and charged with multiple counts of burglary, receiving stolen property, grand larceny and theft of a financial transaction card.

Both men were booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

RCSD investigators say they will continue to investigate possible co-defendants who may face similar charges.

RCSD investigators estimate hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of property was recovered.

Property recovered by RCSD is currently being stored in an area accessible to victims, so deputies can reunite victims with their property.

However, all assets will have to be removed from the temporary space and moved to a more permanent facility by July 31, the RCSD says.

RCSD investigators are asking people who have storage space at either facility to ensure their location has not been burglarized and, if so, to contact the RCSD to make a report so they can try to connect the victims to their property.

Any victims who have already made a report are asked to call their designated investigator and schedule an appointment to examine the recovered property.

The Richland County Sheriff's Department worked with the Columbia Police Department on the investigation, as one of the sites falls under CPD jurisdiction.
