2 men arrested after road brawl involving dangerous weapon in Tiong Bahru; screwdriver seized

SINGAPORE — Two men were arrested after they were seen fighting in Tiong Bahru on Tuesday (May 28), with a screwdriver later seized by police.

The roadside altercation was captured in an online video. It's unclear what exactly sparked the fight.

Police told TODAY on Wednesday that they received a call for help at Block 54 Havelock Road on Tuesday at 12:05 p.m.

Two men, aged 38 and 62, were arrested for fighting. The older man was also arrested for intentionally causing injury with a dangerous weapon.

Both were slightly injured but refused to be taken to hospital.

Fighting is fought in public in a way that disturbs the peace.

Police investigations are ongoing.

WHAT HAPPENED

In a 43-second video posted to Facebook group SG Road Vigilante, the 62-year-old man in the white shirt was seen charging at the younger man, brandishing what appeared to be a sharp object.

As his arms flailed, the 38-year-old man, wearing a helmet and long-sleeved shirt, tried to block the attack and kicked the other man. A woman watches the scene.

At one point, the older man falls to the ground, but quickly gets back up and prepares for the next move.

The young man takes out his phone, probably to record the scene, and shouts at the 62-year-old man.

The older one attacks the younger one again and seems to make stabbing gestures.

The video featured a caption that read in part: “Motorcyclist road rage and driver fighting.”
