2 dead in Southeast Portland crash Tuesday were teenagers

The two people who died in a crash early Tuesday morning in Southeast Portland after fleeing police in a car that had been reported stolen were recent students at Ida B. Wells High School.

Portland police have not confirmed the identities of the two teens, but an email from the principal of Ida B. Wells named the victims as Dylan Brasky and Jayden Rolon-Ekis, former sophomores at Wells who had recently transferred to Portland Community College.

The email from Principal Ayesha Coning identified the person injured in the crash as Cole “CJ” Johnson, a recent Ida B. Wells graduate.

“Our hearts go out to the families and friends of Dylan and Jayden,” Coning wrote Wednesday, “and we continue to wish CJ a full recovery.”

A driver of a second vehicle was also injured in the crash, which occurred near 139th Avenue Southeast and Division Street after Gresham police attempted to stop the car around 12:15 a.m. near 159th Avenue Southeast and Division.

Portland police have investigated nine traffic-related deaths so far in June, including two double deaths.
