The names of two victims killed in a fiery crash after being hit by a suspected drunk driver Friday morning have been released.

Camille Marti, 21, of Beaumont and Loren Icenhower, 25, of Beaumont died at the scene on U.S. 69 near the 534-mile marker, Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett said.

The women were identified through family members, he said.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash, which occurred around 1:44 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling south in the northbound lane and struck another vehicle head-on, killing the occupants.

The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as Salvador Gamez, 51, of Brownsville, was transported to a nearby hospital and faces two counts of intoxication manslaughter, a misdemeanor, according to DPS information.

Bond was not fixed as Gamez was still hospitalized as of Friday afternoon, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

The Jefferson County Water District Volunteer Fire Department No. 10 was one of the agencies that responded, according to its Facebook page.

Firefighters found two vehicles on fire and stuck and WD10 requested mutual aid from the Netherlands Fire Department.

Firefighters remained on scene for four hours during the investigation until the roadway was clear.
