2 dead, 8 injured in shooting outside Arkansas grocery store

Two people were killed and eight injured in a mass shooting Friday outside a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas, state police said. A law enforcement officer was among the injured and his injuries are not life-threatening, police said.

Arkansas State Police responded to the Mad Butcher grocery store at 11:30 a.m. local time on Friday. The shooter was seriously injured and was taken into custody, police said.

“I have been informed of the tragic Fordyce shooting and am in constant contact with the State Police on scene. I am grateful to law enforcement and first responders for their quick and heroic action to save lives My prayers go out to the victims and all those affected by this,” Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on social media.

A total of nine civilians were shot, two fatally, in a shooting outside a grocery store in Fordyce, Alabama, on June 21, 2024, police said. A law enforcement officer was also shot and his injuries were not life-threatening.
