2 dead, 3 injured in violent head-on crash near LAX

A fiery two-car crash near LAX took the lives of two people and sent three others to the hospital, police said.

The collision occurred shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Vista Del Mar and Imperial Highway, overlooking Dockweiler State Beach in the Playa Del Rey neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Video of the scene captured by Sky5 shows a massive response from emergency crews; another angle shows a mangled white Tesla near another SUV damaged beyond recognition.

Two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, Los Angeles police confirmed to KTLA. Of the three other victims, two are said to be in critical condition and the third is in fair condition.

Although none of the victims have been identified, Los Angeles firefighters described four of them as an 18-year-old man, an 18-year-old woman, a 16-year-old boy and a 30-year-old woman. .

The causes of the accident are still under investigation.
