2 people arrested in Salinas for “continuous sexual abuse of a minor”

Salinas police said two men were arrested for alleged sexual abuse of a minor, according to a news release. Police were notified Monday of a possible sexual assault on a minor child. Once police began investigating, they determined that “numerous sexual assaults had occurred over the course of several years.” Candelario Escobar, 21, and Mario Castillo, 24, were arrested Tuesday. They were booked into the Monterey County Jail on charges of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor and continuous sexual abuse of a minor, according to a news release from the Salinas Police Department.
